The thymus gland is a central lymphoid organ in which developing T cell precursors, known as thymocytes, undergo differentiation into distinct type of mature cells, ultimately migrating to the periphery where they exert specialized effector functions and orchestrate immune responses against tumor pathogens self-antigens. mechanisms supporting intrathymic are pleiotropically regulated by thymic peptide hormones cytokines produced stromal cells microenvironment thymocytes. Interestingly, same way (herein exemplified thymosin, thymulin thymopoietin), can circulate impact other cellular components periphery. Evidence on how function influences biology response patients with cancer therapies remains unsatisfactory, although there has been some improvement knowledge provided recent studies.
